How to conquer the speed?

How to increase the site loading speed in a few steps for WP sites.

[Why do I need to increase the loading speed?]

Loading speed – can affect your SEO. Page Loading Speed via HTML: Google and Bing use page loading speed as a ranking factor. Search engine spiders can estimate your site speed fairly accurately based on a page’s code and file size.

Also not very positive research results come from Kissmetrics, where they affirms that:

  • 73% of mobile internet users say that they’ve encountered a website that was too slow to load;
  • 47% of consumers expect a web page to load in 2 seconds or less;
  • A 1 second delay in page response can result in a 7% reduction in conversions.

So you can loose your clients – even before you have the chance to gain them!

What to do?

1. HOSTING

When it comes to hosting – choose a good one! Shared host might be not so bad for some purposes – but you should always evaluate all the pros and cons first. If you hope to bring traffic to your WP site – you should better choose managed WP hosting. What’s the difference? Speaking in two words – shared hosting – is like living in commune – when some “bad neighbors” start to use much more resources, then everybody else – for example social media promotions suddenly bring heavy traffic – all others start to suffer. The server, which houses hundreds of accounts, has a fixed amount of memory. And not just memory – processing power, storage, bandwidth etc. This means that one troubled website may cause thousands of unrelated sites to load slowly, or even — in the worst situation — not to work at all. The only plus – is the cheap price.

You can sidestep all mentioned above problems by moving to the managed WP host. On managed WP hosting, everything from the hardware to the software is built for WordPress needs. Another advantages of managed hosts: enhanced security, regular automated backups, automatic updates (starting from the operating system on the server to PHP and MySQL etc, to WordPress itself), but talking about speed – running a website on managed WP hosting can defiantly reduce a site’s page-load – for some sites more then 2 sec or even more! There are also few minor things about that – like plugin restrictions – but it’s not that fatal

2. CACHE PLUGIN

Caching plugins help to solve the problem with constant requests to your host for images, Javascript, and CSS, WP database, etc. by creating a static version of your content and delivering it to users. This helps great! You could see an improvement from the first sight.
